Senior Information

  1. Getting into College (What colleges look for)
    • GPA
    • Class Rank
    • ACT or SAT
    • Courses Taken
    • Extra-Curricular Activities (clubs, organizations, sports, etc)
  2. College Search
    • Make sure you look at what programs the school as to offer and decide what is important to you (class sizes, extra-curricular, clubs, cost, type of area it is in, etc.) and find the school that match your desires.
    • Check the website for “College Matchmaker”. This has you pick certain criteria for colleges and it will match you with colleges that match your criteria.
  3. Financial Aid (SENIOR YEAR)
    • Ross High School Financial Aid Night
    • Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 7:00pm in the auditorium
    • Check the “Scholarship Update” box monthly (located in the Student Service area) for updated information regarding scholarships deadlines.
    • Check announcements daily.
    • Check the RHS Newsletter that is available online each month.
    • Check the RHS guidance website.
    • Check the website below your senior year. After you login and give some information, they will email you all possible scholarships you are eligible for.
    • Fill out and return your FAFSA form beginning January 1st of your senior year. You need to register online.
  4. Transcripts
    • Transcript Request Forms need to be filled out and given to Counselor at least 5 days before it needs to be mailed.
    • The (purple) forms are in the guidance area
    • Please fill out one for per school
    • Colleges will be sent: your transcript, current schedule, ACT/SAT scores, possibly letters of recommendations
